Type of sessions

EuroPRevent 2011

The following session types are organised by the Congress Programme Committee.

Pre-arranged Sessions

Main Session

The latest and most sophisticated lectures in the field of prevention and health policy, epidemiology and public health, cardiac rehabilitation, exercise physiology, sports cardiology and basic science by the world's leading experts. 

Meet the Experts

These sessions are geared towards practical management of cardiovascular diseases in daily situations by experts in their field. 

Joint Sessions

Specific sessions organised together with leading international institutions will be the opportunity to discuss major cardiovascular issues. 

How-To Sessions

Give a unique opportunity for intense interaction between a small audience and two or three experts in various fields of clinical cardiology.

Symposia

Allow for in-depth discussions of recent developments in the various fields of basic science, epidemiology and prevention cardiology. 

Regional Sessions:

The development and implementation of preventive measures to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease is a challenge in several fields. Due to the proximity to the European Headquarters of the World Health Organisation (WHO), the World Heart Federation (WHF), the United European Football Association (UEFA), and the International Olympic Committee (IOC), sessions on Thursday afternoon will focus on activities these organisations are actively pursuing. These activities include measures to prevent sudden cardiac death in adult and child athletes. Additional presentations on prevention programmes in the corporate world and the future of the cardiovascular prevention and rehabilitation in the area will be offered.

Pre-Congress Course: Master Class in Preventive Cardiology: Diabetes

Programme directors: Lars Rydén (SE); Eberhard Standl (DE)
Target audience:Specialists and residents in cardiology, diabetology, general practice and vascular and thoracic surgery who frequently have to address the problems related to the patient population in focus.
Course objective: The aim of this course is to present a practical approach to the implementation of the joint ESC/EASD Guidelines on Diabetes,Prediabetes and Cardiovascular Disease.

This new addition to the congress will be organised on Thursday 14 April from 08:30 - 13:30.

Abstracts Sessions:

Oral Abstract Sessions

Original presentations in the field of cardiovascular prevention will be given orally in a lecture room with two experts chairing each session.

Young Investigators Award Session

Original presentations in the field of cardiovascular prevention will be given orally in a lecture room by our Junior Investigators with two experts chairing each session. These sessions offer a unique opportunity for young investigators to submit their most innovative and novel research to the scrutiny of panels of renowned experts in
the specific fields.

The selected presenters will receive a certificate and complimentary registration. A panel of experts will judge the competition and select the YIA winner onsite. 

The winner will receive a €500 prize and the option to publish in the Association’s journal: the European Journal of Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation.

Moderated Poster Sessions

The best moderated posters per EACPR section - Prevention & Health Policy, Epidemiology & Public Health, Cardiac Rehabilitation, Sports Cardiology, Exercise Physiology and Basic Science - selected onsite during the Moderated poster sessions will be displayed on Saturday 16 April 2011 in the exhibition area. The presenter of the selected posters will obtain a certificate.

Poster sessions

Poster sessions consist of a visual display of research highlights. Poster presenters are expected to be present at their poster during the healthy break from 10:00 to 11:00 and from 15:30 to 16:30. At each session, Presenters will be asked to briefly discuss the content of their poster in front of an appreciative audience.
