Q. What is an abstract?
A. An abstract is a stand-alone statement that briefly explains, in a non-repetitive style, the essential information of a study. The abstract presents the purpose, methods, results and conclusions.

Q. How many abstracts can I submit?
A. There is no limit to the number of abstracts an author may submit, but you should not submit the same research twice even in a different topic or with a different title.

Q. Can I submit an abstract by email?
A. No, you must use the online services via your MyESC account. Any abstract sent by email will automatically be returned to sender.

Q. How much does it cost to submit an abstract to the EuroPRevent Congress?
A. Abstract submission to the EuroPRevent Congress is free of charge.

Q. Who reviews the abstracts?
All abstracts will be reviewed by 5-7 members of the Abstract Review Committee (graders) from a pool of over 1,000 experienced professionals. The final selection will be made by the Scientific Programme Committee in November 2010.

Q. What language can I use in the abstract?
A. As the conference language is English we can accept abstracts submitted ONLY in English.

Q. How many words should my abstract contain?
A. There is not a specific maximum of words, but rather a maximum total size of the abstract (shown as 100 %), including the text, table and picture (if any).
The maximum abstract size is 35 lines of 75 characters (2625 characters)
- an image represents 11 lines (including the title)
- each table row represents 1 line (+ 3 lines for title and legend)
- the table legend size is calculated by dividing its numbers of characters by 75.
Use the save and refresh button at the bottom in order to display the size of the abstract in percentage (shown on the left side of the screen) The programme then converts the size in % to display to you when you register it as a draft
The character limit does not include the title and the authors. Only the abstract text, table and picture is taken into account.

Q. I have submitted my abstract but I need to make a modification in the content, in the title, in the authors list.
A. Once submitted, it is not possible to make any corrections to the abstract content or information (such as speaker details, topic, etc.) In order to correct your abstract you must withdraw it and submit a new corrected version prior to the deadline (See below for withdrawal procedure). Note that, such replacement of your abstract is not possible after the deadline. In the case of errors in your abstract discovered after the deadline, you may indicate the correction during the presentation at the congress. However, changes will not be included in the publications

Q. Can I submit the same abstract to another conference?
A. Submitted abstracts should not have been presented at any previous international congress. However, former presentation at national meetings does not disqualify. Your copyright should not have previously been given at an international level

Q. Can I submit an abstract that has been previously presented or published?
A. No, unless there are major updates in the data.

Q. When will I receive the abstract acceptance notification?
A. The abstract results will be sent by email to each abstract submitter in March 2010. A link to access results will be posted on the website

A. The content belongs to the author but, if accepted, you give to the ESC the right to reproduce and distribute the work submitted, including reprints, electronic forms or any reproduction for educational purposes of similar nature on a worldwide basis.

Q. I need to withdraw my abstract. How should I proceed?
A. The abstract Submitter needs to send an email to europreventscientific@escardio.org with the number and the title of the abstract to withdraw.
