This tour will show you the main highlights of Munich and includes a visit of the Nymphenburg Palace. Built in 1664 as a summer residence, the palace and the gardens have not experienced their main transformations into a baroque complex before 1715. It was at this time that the Nymphenburg canal system was completed and the garden was provided with a variety of water features and the necessary pumping machinery, and refinements were made to the design of the parterre, the hedge gardens and the extensive wooded park.

After a panorama-tour of the city, you will discover what has been the seat of the Bavarian rulers until the 20th Century, the Residence. The Residence originated as a small castle, built in 1385 which was gradually expanded by the Wittelsbach rulers to create a complex of palaces around seven courtyards. They used it until 1918 as their residence and seat of government. The Palace has become one of Europe’s most famous museums for interior decoration, precious sculptures, paintings, clocks, and tapestries. It features private and state apartments of the dynasty of Wittelsbach from the Renaissance to the 19th Century, court churches and chapels, one theatre, one concert hall, the Hall of Antiquities, the Silver Chambers, the Sacred Vestment Rooms and a porcelain collection from the 18th and 19th Centuries and East Asia.

Neuschwanstein, built by Ludwig II. in the seclusion of the Bavarian mountains, has become for many the symbol of the fairytale castles. It illustrates the ideals and longings of the “Swan King” more vividly than any of his other buildings. Here Ludwig II escaped into a dream world – the poetic world of the Middle Ages. The frescos of Neuschwanstein were inspired by the operas of Richard Wagner, to whom the king dedicated the castle.
After a lunch at nearby Hohenschwangau, You will visit the world-famous Wieskirche Church and the village of Oberammergau, famous for its Passion Play, arts and handicrafts.
Please note that the buses cannot stop directly in front of the Castle Neuschwanstein. A bus shuttle will be organised at the bottom of the mountain.
