Two FOCUS Cardiology Practice sessions discuss the entire spectrum ranging from mild symptoms to end-stage heart failure. Two main sessions cover two timely topics in heart failure: the role of anaemia and the clinical value of brain natriuretic peptide (BNP).A total of 351 scientific sessions will be held in 28 lecture rooms. The programme includes the named lectures, clinical symposia and seminars, and exciting debates.
Sessions will include live transmissions from around Europe demonstrating practical skills in imaging and intervention (FOCUS sessions), presentations on the new ESC Guidelines on non-STEMI acute coronary syndromes, valve disease, cardiac pacing, hypertension and prevention of cardiovascular disease, and on the newly completed “Universal definition of myocardial infarction”.In three Hot Lines and two Clinical Trial Update Sessions , the late-breaking trials and the most recent updates on published trials will be presented. There will be Basic Science Track sessions, with the best submissions being presented in the Science Hot Line on Monday 3 September. New this year are the “State of the Art and Featured Research Sessions”, including keynote lectures by experts in the field, in combination with oral presentations of the highest ranked abstracts on a specific topic.
These sessions will take place on Wednesday. On Sunday 2 September, five Young Investigators’ competitions will take place and the winners will be recognised during the Awards Ceremony on Tuesday 4 September.
We would like to thank the 1,000 reviewers who graded almost 10,000 abstracts, of which 3,501 were accepted for presentation.
On Wednesday, the traditional Highlight Session will provide a comprehensive summary on the most important topics presented at this ESC Congress and will close it.
We are proud to welcome you to this exciting scientific meeting and look forward to greeting you there!
