ESC Congress 2010

Interview with Linda Olivereau
ESC Head of Registration, Housing & Events

Less than a month away from the ESC Congress 2010, some delegates are having a difficult time finding accommodation in Stockholm. Why is that?

" Although unpleasant, it is not an unusual situation for a large congress, especially at the last minute.

Delegates, faculty and industry invited groups tend to book hotels early and the most desirable city centre rooms are inevitably the first to go, this is even the case for many of the easily reachable large towns near the Stockholm area.

Stockholm has a huge hotel capacity and we have worked here many times before with some of the best and most established housing agencies in Europe, and with the committed support of the Stockholm Convention bureau.

Even with some 70% of the total market secured within our contingent we are now facing a delicate situation that can only be put down to 20% growth in attendance since we last came to Stockholm.

We'd like people to know that we are constantly monitoring the situation and that we do all we can to help people when they contact us.

We have a number of regularly updated hotel suggestions on our website so I'd say that that would be the best starting point for a room outside the city, yet at a reasonable distance from the Congress Centre."

Sweden still has room for you!
