The Scientific Programme Committee of the concerned Congress or Meeting has identified invited Graders as experts within several areas in Cardiology.
The main mission of a Grader is to review a section of the large amount of abstracts received for a Congress.
Please note, that you will be required to grade within all the topics mentioned in the mail of invitation received. However, the number should not exceed 100, regardless of the number of topics assigned.
The Abstract reviewing made by the Grader is a pre-evaluation of the abstract quality in order to contribute to the final abstract selection.

Please pay attention to the deadlines found in the invitation mail.
Graders Guidelines
The ESC abstract review process uses a 10-point scale. While grading, please consider the following questions:
• Does the abstract address a relevant problem related to cardiovascular science or cardiovascular medicine
• Is the methodology adequate and acceptable?
• Are the results clearly presented?
• Are the conclusions supported by the presented data?
Please summarise your grading based on this 10-point scale and give only one number for each abstract:
• 10: Excellent
• 9-8: Good
• 7-6: Average
• 5-4-3 : Questionable
• 2-1: Poor
If you feel that the abstract should be part of the programme, please grade >=8.
If you feel that the abstract should NOT be part of the programme, please grade <=5.
We request that you avoid as much as possible using grades 7 and 6.
Your acceptance rate should be around 35%.
If the abstract is misclassified, indicate the appropriate category in the comment field.
Please use “?”:
• If the abstract does not belong to the allocated topic, or if it falls far outside your field of competence. Indicate the topic to which the abstract should be allocated for review in the comment field.
• If the abstract content has already been published. Clearly indicate the exact reference in the comment field.
Please use “C”:
• If you recognise an abstract as coming from your own department or team.
• If you have a conflict of interest with regards to the abstract.
Once you have graded all abstracts assigned to you, do not forget to send the grade sheet(s) to the ESC by clicking on “Submit your grades” at the top of the grade sheets list.
Note: some of the graphics, pictures and tables may have been submitted with poor quality and may not be legible. In this case, please focus on the content of the abstract.
We will contact the authors if needed after the final selection.
