Dear Colleagues,
It is our pleasure to welcome you to the EUROPACE 2007 meeting in Lisbon.
The scientific programme has been carefully put together by the programme committee and hopefully reflects all fields of interest in arrhythmology, covering both basic and clinical electrophysiology.
This Europace congress for the first time has been organised in cooperation with Cardiostim with 6 sessions organised by Cardiostim. We are very glad that the official cooperation between EHRA and Cardiostim, which was started at the last Cardiostim in Nice 2006, becomes visible at this congress.
Every effort will be undertaken to support this cooperation in the future.
The scientific programme includes state of the art lectures, main sessions and meet the expert sessions. In addition new session formats will be introduced, the so called “zoom-in” sessions and “except for” sessions.
In the “zoom-in” sessions, the presenters have to focus on the three best arguments based on scientific evidence for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. These arguments should be presented at the beginning of the presentation and then discussed during the rest of the presentation.
In the “except for” sessions, the presenters give a provocative hypothesis on a treatment strategy, which does not allow any exception, except for…
We hope that both formats will stimulate the discussion with the audience and further improve the communication between scientists and clinicians.
Furthermore satellite symposia sponsored by Industry will be an important part of the congress. They will take place outside of the scientific programme allowing attendance for all participants of the congress.
In addition to the recently established accreditation examinations, EHRA has also started a fellowship programme with the financial support of Industry, which allows fellows to spend one (advanced programme) or two years (basic programme) in a centre of excellence within Europe.
Attendees of this congress should also have the opportunity to visit the exhibition area to meet with Industry to get insight into the latest technical developments.
To complete your stay in the legendary city of Lisbon, take some time out to visit its monuments and museums, enjoy the various festivities organized, or stroll through the city streets and discover the exquisite shopping and nightlife that our host city has to offer.
