Official opening of the 11th Annual Spring Meeting on Cardiovascular Nursing 

Over 400 participants welcomed to Brussels

The 11th Spring Meeting on Cardiovascular Nursing was officially opened this morning by Dr. Kaat Siebens, Chair of the Council on Cardiovascular Nursing (CCNAP) followed by Dr Philip Moons, Chair of the Belgian Working Group for Cardiovascular Nursing. Both groups have collaborated to produce this year’s exciting programme.

Opening CeremonyProfessor Panos Vardas, President of the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA), congratulated the Council on its contribution to the programme of the meeting.
He reminded the audience that the field of cardiovascular medicine relied upon the efforts of the nurses, specialized technicians and doctors and highlighted the importance of nursing education to successfully carry out their mission to serve the patients.

Professor Vardas went on to present EHRA which presents an array of activities and initiatives to train and inform professionals in the field of arrhythmias. EHRA is offers training fellowships to younger generations and in particular to nurses. It is currently introducing certification for Allied Professions from June 2011. Professor Vardas is also President Elect of the European Society of Cardiology and announced that he will remain close to the leadership of CCNAP.
