Dear HFA member,
I am writing after the conclusion of what I believe was a very successful annual congress in Nice. |
| Prof. John McMurray |
The chairs of the Scientific Committee, Professors Kenneth Dickstein and Michel Komajda (and of course the many others involved), must take great credit for this. So must you, the members of the Heart Failure Association, because our meeting depends completely on your input – the abstracts you submit, your attendance at sessions, visiting posters, asking questions and networking. All of these lead to the interchange of ideas, education and advancement and, importantly, collegiality and friendship.
As last year, we asked attendees to provide us with feedback so that we can try and continue to improve the congress – so please do let us know what you would like changed. We need to start planning Heart Failure 2010 in Berlin soon!
The Heart Failure Association has many other activities, as you know, and some of these are described elsewhere in this Newsletter. One new initiative, is the initiation of a new Study Group on Peripartum Cardiomyopathy – watch out for new HFA web pages on this uncommon but important problem. Those pages will contain useful information on the latest clinical and scientific thinking on peripartum cardiomyopathy.
Lastly, we launched our French language version of heartfailurematters.org in Nice during the congress. A Spanish language version will be launched at the ESC Annual Congress in Barcelona in September. We are keen to work with any group who have funding for translation and development into another language – if you are interested, please let me know.
I look forward to see you in Barcelona where, once again, the Heart Failure Association has a considerable input in the programme.
Best wishes
John McMurray
President of the HFA
