To develop, promote and coordinate common initiatives on physical conditioning as a key component of the comprehensive management of heart failure

In order to achieve this mission, the Study Group recognises the importance and need of the following:
  • To establish a pan-European expert network in exercise training and rehabilitation in heart failure To prepare a position paper on the exercise rehabilitation in heart failure covering the whole clinical spectrum of this syndrome
  • To promote and coordinate multi-centre studies investigating the contribution of exercise conditioning on the natural course on heart failure
  • To set-up a close collaboration with the other HFA committees and the European Association of Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation for broader introduction of exercise rehabilitation into everyday clinical practice across Europe

Objectives

  • Write Consensus document on Exercise Training aiming to:
    -  Publish shorter version for the European Journal of Heart Failure (April 2011)
    -  Publish the full online version for the HFA web-site
  • Organise ETP – course
  • Organise practical “Hand-on” courses on Exercise Training in Heart Failure in collaboration with the other HFA committees and the EACPR
  • Organise session at HFA Congresses
