EHRA Summit 2011 : Another successful meeting !

Professor C. Wolpert

The aim of this two day Summit on "Medical Innovations in Arrhythmias. The expectations, the barriers, the developments" was to highlight the main obstacles in treatment in the European countries. The cases of United Kingdom, Russia, Serbia, Israel, Spain and Poland have been addressed.

The breakout sessions on day two split the attendees into three task forces to enable more elaborate discussions on:

  • What defines innovation in medical devices? What are the stages of the innovation process?
  • Who are the stakeholders in innovation?
  • The affordability of the health care system's technology innovation: where does it stand and where is it going?

Professor A. Auricchio, EHRA President Elect

EHRA spreads the good word!

Below you will find a sample of comments collected from the survey sent to all attendees after the Summit.

Thoughts on the Summit...

Industry innovation implementation in clinical practice is dependant on the economic conditions and reimbursement issues of each country.

The economic situation will drive future opportunities.

EHRA spread very good intentions and stimulus of spreading ideas and activities.

I am very impressed by the high quality of topics discussed during the meeting.
