EHRA Training Fellowship Programme 2008

Selection for the One-Year Advanced Programme 2008

Date :

17 Sep 2008
With the aim to promote the development of academic medicine in the field of clinical electrophysiology, one- (advanced) and two-year (basic / every 2nd year) training fellowships have been launched by the EHRA in 2007.

The EHRA Training Fellowships have been designed to provide physicians, who have completed their cardiology training but not yet obtained a consultant or equivalent permanent status, the opportunity to gain specialised training in clinical electrophysiology (EP) in Europe, preferably outside their home country.

A unique approach to the EHRA Training Fellowships requests that training centres also apply to participate in the programme. Preference is given to centres that already have an active fellowship programme and perform a minimum number of implantations of pacemakers, ICDs and catheter ablations annually.

For 2008, solely the one-year Advanced Programme was open for applications. This programme addresses physicians with more extensive experience in electrophysiology (EP) and will deal with advanced mapping diagnosis.

Out of more than 20 submitted applications each – from individuals and centres - the EHRA Training Fellowships Committee had a challenging job to select 5 individuals and 5 centres and propose the best suitable match to ensure a successful collaboration during the duration of the programme.

The EHRA Training Fellowships Committee has now the pleasure to announce the names of the 2008 Awardees as follows :

  • Andrei FORCLAZ, (CH) going to the CHU de Bordeaux, Pessac, France,
  • Marcin GAWRYSIAK, (PL) going to the Maastricht University Medical Centre, Maastricht, Netherlands,
