The 2008 ESC Congress in Munich represented one of the most successful meetings in the history of the European Society of Cardiology, attended by an unprecedented 30449 delegates and industry representatives.

EHRA played a major role in the organization and scheduling of scientific sessions dealing with arrhythmias and cardiac pacing issues.

Special session were organized on hot topic issues in rhythmology: home monitoring of devices, ESC Clinical Practice Guidelines, new developments in cardiac pacing and inherited arrhythmogenic disorders, notably channelopathies and Risk Stratification in Brugada Syndrome.

A selection of relevant sessions are available as webcasts on the ESC Web Site.

Furthermore, several important events relating to our Association took place during the Congress. During the EHRA board meeting the first edition of the EHRA White Book was presented which signifies the beginning of a long term initiative aimed at collecting information on the status of invasive electrophysiology in Europe.

During the EHRA general assembly, the board representatives updated the membership on current activities. The future plans of the Association have been presented and thanks to our sound economic assets, we will be able to undertake several novel initiatives in 2009. All members are invited to visit the new EHRA website frequently to check for updates.
