Join the Asymptomatic Carotid Surgery Trial (ACST-2)

Carotid endarterectomy vs stenting in patients with asymptomatic carotid artery stenosis

This recently funded randomised trial comparing carotid endartectomy and carotid artery stenting in patients with asymptomatic stenosis has just opened for randomisation. This non-commercial academic research trial is funded jointly through the National Institutes of Health Research Health Technology Assessment Programme and the BUPA Foundation as well as being sponsored by the University of Oxford.

Please find attached the invitation letter   from the NIHR HTA/BUPA Foundation/University of Oxford

Your support will be greatly appreciated to :

  • facilitate large-scale and rapid recruitment so that the trial can meet its objectives in a timely way
  • ensure wide-scale collaboration of experts in the field
  • when the trial results emerge, get greater likelihood of their uptake and implementation in clinical practice (and in practice guidelines).

Any publication of the trial results would, of course, be in the names of the clinicians collaborating in the study.
