What are the aims?
- To preserve the most relevant technical and clinical experience with ultrasound obtained by master scientists in echocardiography in a permanent electronic format.
- To make this body of knowledge available to echocardiographers around the world.
- To thank our mentors with a permanent acknowledgement of their valuable contributions to development of clinical echocardiography.
How will it be presented?
To establish a virtual Hall of Fame on the EAE website in order to:
- Host a movie with a ten-minute interview with distinguished echocardiographers who are going to retire or have been retired.
- Include a formal 30- to 45-minute talk (slide and voice) about the most relevant topic which has characterised their echo career.

A Hall of Fame is a type of museum established in a particular field of endeavour to honour individuals of noteworthy achievement in that field. In some cases, these halls of fame consist of actual halls or museums which pay tribute to the honourees with sculptures, plaques, and displays of memorabilia. In other cases, the hall of fame is more figurative, and simply consists of a list of names of noteworthy individuals maintained by an organisation.
In the last 40 years many distinguished colleagues have substantially contributed to the development of echocardiography. After their disappearance from the academic and/or the scientific world due to their ageing, their work and contribution tends to disappear from general knowledge.
Their history, experience, wisdom and vision may be of help to you or to many new echocardiographers belonging to the new generation who never got the opportunity to attend the lessons of these pioneers.
Moreover, preserving their voices and lessons may be a valuable tribute to their work.
