The First Echocardiography Societies World Summit took place July 28-30, 2011 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Attendance for the three-day event was 1,185, primarily from the South American countries of Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.
The strategic goals for this meeting were:
- To reach areas of the world where the teaching will make an impact
- For the partnering societies to collaborate towards the standardization of echocardiography worldwide.
A collaboration of echocardiography societies in the US, Europe, Japan, India, China, South America and Korea.
It was a very constructive meeting, with a lot of interaction, learning development, exchange of experience in a friendhip atmosphere.

The EAE was represented on the World Summit faculty by Dr.L. Badano, EAE President, Prof. P. Lancellotti, EAE President-elect, Prof. J.L. Zamorano, EAE past-President.

The EAE had also the opportunity to meet the delegates in the exhibition on the EAE booth. The level of interest was very high for the educational initiatives and products, in partircular the EAE textbook on Echocardiography.
