Science has not been resting during the summer! Several interesting studies have been published, especially in the field of physical activity and smoking. Among these are:
- Most encouraging:a 17% drop in the number of hospital admissions for acute coronary syndrome after the smoking ban was introduced in Scotland
- Most disquietening: half of hypertensive patients stop their medication during the first year
- Most relevant: new data on the benefits of physical activity among the elderly.
- … and a personal favourite: women’s toe nails are often used for painting, but it appears that they can even serve a better cause: a diagnostic tool for smoking habits!
