Call for applications for the Fellowship Programmes for 2009:
Start in September 2008
Deadline for applications: 15 December 2008
Thanks to financial support from Biosense Webster, the EHRA is proud to offer a unique opportunity for individuals and centres.
Individuals
Two categories of EHRA Training Fellowships are offered to give physicians the opportunity to gain specialised training in clinical electrophysiology (EP) in Europe, but outside their home country. Physicians will need to have completed parts of their cardiology training, but prior to obtaining a consultant or equivalent permanent status.
These training fellowships aim at promoting the development of academic medicine in the field of clinical electrophysiology with emphasis on catheter ablation, one (advanced) and two (basic) year training fellowships are available.
- For physicians new to clinical electrophysiology (EP): the two-year programme is designed to provide advanced theoretical and practical knowledge in the fields of diagnostic EP studies and catheter ablation of simple arrhythmias. This programme will be available in 2009.
- For physicians with more extensive experience in electrophysiology (EP): the one-year Training Fellowship will deal with advanced mapping diagnosis and ablation of complex substrates, amongst other topics.
Centres
A unique approach to the EHRA Training Fellowship is that the association is pleased to offer training centres the opportunity to apply and participate in the programme, with preference given to centres that already have an active fellowship programme, and a minimum of catheter ablations on an annual basis.
Application
The Training Fellowship Committee, chaired by Professor Karl Heinz Kuck, will review applications from both individuals and centres and provide the best suitable match to ensure a successful collaboration during the training fellowship duration.
