Myocardial and Pericardial Diseases

Print version

 Prof. A. Keren

Dear Members,

The goal of the ESC Working Group on Myocardial and Pericardial Diseases is to advance the understanding and management of myocardial and pericardial diseases in order to improve the quality of life and survival of patients by preventing heart failure and sudden death.
The current priorities of the group are development of novel diagnostic and therapeutic strategies in heart muscle and pericardial diseases, promotion of greater awareness of the familial nature of most myocardial diseases, facilitation of the cooperation between basic and clinical researchers, education of practising physicians to look beyond morphological presentations of these entities, and support with expertise organisations of patients and their families.
Working Group members also contribute to the ESC activities such as the organisation of the ESC congress, writing of guidelines and recommendations, as well as the stimulation for collaborative research programmes.

Andre Keren, Chairman
