Valvular Heart Disease

Print version

Professor Manuel Antunes Dear Colleagues ,

The ESC Working Group welcomes the contribution of all those involved in the field of Valvular Heart Disease. The current membership embraces a wide range of specialists, encompassing basic science, epidemiology, imaging disciplines, cardiology and cardiac surgery, as well as obstetricians and  microbiologists. There are strong links with national specialist societies  throughout Europe. The Working Group also enjoys its collaboration with the  European Society of Echocardiography and the International Society of  Cardiovascular Infectious Disease.
Activities in recent years include completion of the EuroHeart Survey on Valvular Heart Disease, the development of European Guidelines for the Management of Valvular Heart Disease and Follow Up after Heart Valve Surgery, a successful teaching programme at The European Heart House, several popular national conferences and a proposed programme of collaborative research.
The Working Group makes a major contribution to the organisation of the ESC Annual Congress, contributes to the EUROECHO programme and fosters the promotion of research, training, and good clinical practice in the field of Valvular Heart Disease.

We look forward to welcoming you
Professor Manuel Antunes, Chairman of the WG
