The ESC Fellowship has become a highly respected voice in the voluntary sector of cardiology. Fellows are distinguished cardiologists who have the possibility to belong to and support a prestigious community, and represent its activities. This peer group of 2 943 cardiologists and nurses has access to a high quality of worldwide networking.
Main purpose 
Fellowship of the ESC was created in 1988. Its main objective is to provide the ESC with a way of upholding and expanding the professional qualities of our Society and of integrating various national activities to a greater degree within the European scene.
A Fellow is considered to be a person who has had a number of years of experience in the field and who has distinguished himself or herself individually in clinical, educational, investigational, organisational or professional aspects of Cardiology.
Recognition 
The designation of FESC honours ESC members who have made outstanding contributions in the field of Cardiology.
A merit of attainments 
This title is based on professional scientific merit and testifies one's commitment and achivement with the world of cardiology.

ESC Nurse Fellow - an invaluable title
Main purpose 
Nurse Fellowship of the ESC (NFESC) was created in 1999. This decision was taken in order to give formal recognition to those nurses who acquired a number of years of experience in the field of cardiac care and who have distinguished themselves individually in clinical practice, education, research, organisational of professional aspects of cardiac nursing.
NFESC provides the Society with a team of nurses whose responsibilities are to uphold and develop the professional contribution of nursing to cardiac care throughout Europe, particularly by means of the greater integration and collaboration of the activities of the various National Nurses' Societies.
Recognition 
The NFESC is an outstanding honour awarded on the basis of unique personal achievements. Nurse Fellows of the ESC enjoy the same prestige and privileges as FESC.
