Thanks to financial support from Biosense Webster, the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA) is proud to offer a unique opportunity for individuals and centres.
Individuals — Two categories of EHRA Training Fellowships were offered for 2007, enabling Physicians, who have completed parts of their cardiology training, but prior to obtaining a consultant or equivalent permanent status, the opportunity to gain specialised training in clinical electrophysiology (EP) in Europe, outside their home country. With the aim to promote the development of academic medicine in the field of clinical electrophysiology, one-(advanced) and two-(basic) year training fellowships were available.
Centres — A unique approach to the EHRA Training Fellowship programme was that training centres should also apply to participate in the programme, with preference given to centres that have already had an active fellowship programme, and a minimum of implantations of pacemakers, ICDs and catheter ablation annually.
Selection for 2007 — Out of 42 submitted applications for individuals and 14 for centres, the EHRA Training Fellowship Committee selected 11 individuals and 11 centres and proposed the best suitable match to ensure a successful collaboration during the duration of the programme.
