Three junior group leader positions vacant in experimental thrombosis & hemostasis and/or vascular biology
The Center for Thrombosis and Hemostasis (CTH), University Medical Center of the Johannes Gutenberg University (JGU) of Mainz has three junior group leader positions (male/female) available, in the areas of “Experimental Thrombosis & Hemostasis and/or Vascular Biology”.
The three positions are part of the JGU research focus vascular prevention and hemostaseology within the framework of the BMBF-supported project Integrated Research and Treatment Center (IFB) in the field of “Thrombosis and Hemostasis”.
Applicants for these positions will be experienced biomedical scientists in the field of thrombosis & hemostasis and/or vascular biology and should be committed for human disease-oriented research. Experimental experience in appropriate model systems, vascular signalling, redox regulation, microRNA biology and/or novel aspects of coagulation factor/platelet (dys)functions are especially welcome.
Qualified applicants will be given the opportunity to establish an independent research group within the CTH and its funded research program and resources. Active participation in interdisciplinary collaborations within the CTH Mainz and the capability to shape structures of CTH are expected. Leaderships skills are required. Opportunities to participate in clinical research and research-relevant patient care are available.
The positions are available starting in September 2011 for an initial period of three years (funded by the BMBF and related programs) with a possible three year tenure-track prolongation. Initial funding includes the group leader position [TV-L salary E14 / E15] and, on the basis of a research plan, 1-2 graduate students (or one postdoc), one technician and consumables. Laboratory space and equipment will be provided. Medical qualifications/German language knowledge are helpful but not essential.
