Research Fellowships in cardiac imaging

Research Fellowships in cardiac imaging

The laboratory of “Cardiovascular Imaging and Dynamics” of the department of
Cardiovascular Diseases at the University of Leuven is a group of technical and medical
researchers that work together towards the development of new cardiac imaging techniques
to address patho-physiologic and clinical problems.

At present there are 2 research positions available for trained cardiologists or cardiologists in
training with a special interest in medical imaging, particularly echocardiography and magnetic
resonance imaging. The fellowships are for a period of 1 to 2 years and could be extended
towards a full Ph.D. program (3-4 years).

Projects are situated in the field of basic (patho)-physiologic research on ischemic heart
disease (large and small animal models) and on clinical research (i.e. to monitor the effect of
new therapeutic strategies using ultrasound and/or magnetic resonance based cardiac
deformation imaging).
