We are very pleased to announce that the new version of our website is due to go live early July 2008.
Why did we decide to update our website? 
The European Society of Cardiology (ESC) has evolved greatly over the past few years into becoming a multidimensional organisation that represents all the different facets of cardiology in Europe.
The ESC Web Site is a mirror image of the Society itself: it represents the different ESC Communities, it is a showcase for the various ESC activities & products and provides outstanding scientific content to health professionals.
The mission of the Society is to reduce the burden of cardiovascular disease in Europe and this requires an investment in the dissemination of knowledge. It was in order to deal with the ongoing evolution of the Society that a decision was taken to redesign the website.
How did we decide what our new website would be like?
An extensive study was conducted during the ESC Congress, on regular feedback from our site visitors, on best practices in the world of web, interviews with key ESC representatives & stakeholders, and on our own experience over the past few years.
What will be different in the new site?
We won't go into every detail, but you will find several improvements on our new website which should make it easier for you to find the information you are looking for.
Easier access to information:
- Home page: now a single entrance point to all website content
- Quick access to Guidelines, Journals and Education
- Link to ESC Guidelines - no longer behind a login
- Improved search
- Cross-linking between different sections related to the same scientific topic
Become involved - the ESC, a membership society:
- Membership aspect of ESC emphasised
- Concept of Communities based on scientific topics
- Greater visibility for ESC Associations
