Have we got news for you?

Date: 17 Aug 2009
ESC Congress News is back! Make sure you pick up your free copy of the official daily eight-page newspaper of ESC Congress, as of Saturday 29 August 2009.

ESC Congress News readerCopies will be made available throughout the Congress Centre and from selected Barcelona hotels. ESC Congress News will contain exclusive scientific highlights of the day, on-site reports from the previous day, photographs from key events and useful daily information!

As always this year’s Congress newspaper will focus on the highlights and points of greatest interest to the Congress delegates.

As such, you will be able to find daily reports on the Hot Line and Clinical Trial Update sessions, along with a daily running theme on prevention.

Some of the topics that will be covered include:

  • Changing perils of the physical environment;
  • Exercise at high altitudes;
  • Childhood obesity;
  • A look at the effects of smoking bans throughout Europe and the world.
Debate topics and hot topics will be presented from sessions such as:
  • Current perceptions of aspirin and cardiovascular disease prevention;
  • Drug-eluting stents safety – is it time to turn the page on ESC Congress 2006 ;
  • Contentious issues in sports cardiology;
  • The SYNTAX trial: one year on;
  • Life Saving in AMI;
  • Atrial Fibrillation;
  • Cardiotoxic anti-cancer treatments.
The following new ESC Clinical Practice Guidelines will be introduced and presented: pulmonary hypertension, infective endocarditis, preoperative cardiac risk assessment in and perioperative cardiac management in non-cardiac surgery and syncope.

You can look forward to profiles and interviews of gold medal winners, the new European Heart Journal Editor-in-Chief, and coverage on the Andreas Grüntzig and Geoffrey Rose lectures. We will also pay tribute to the deeply regretted Professor Philip Poole Wilson.

Conclusion Distribution racks will be located throughout the congress centre and hostesses will hand out copies first thing in the morning at the main entrance. If you are not at the ESC Congress or forget to grab a copy on the day, do not worry - all key articles will be repeated online under ESC Congress 2009, or available straight in your mailbox, thanks to the My ESC News Daily Congress edition which we advise you to subscribe to, if you are not already a regular My ESC News subcriber.

Enjoy the news!
