Editorial from Professor Hugo Saner

Professor Hugo Saner
EACPR President

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

Welcome to this new edition of our Association's newsletter.

It is exciting to see the steady growth of our Association and the increase in the number of its activities. However, the highlight of this year is just around the corner. We hope that we will see most of you at our upcoming EuroPRevent congress 1-3 May 2008 in Paris.

This year, the congress has a special focus on diabetes, hypertension and lipid and is aimed at bringing together international experts in the field of prevention and health policy, epidemiology and public health, cardiac rehabilitation, exercise physiology, sports cardiology and basic science. The congress programme committee and the EACPR scientific committee have done a great job to provide the most comprehensive preventive cardiology programme. The ESC Congress Division is in charge of organising the congress for the first time and they are dedicated to make it a great and unforgettable event.
Don’t miss the latest news in this newsletter!

The evolution of the Association is very much linked to the activities of the six sections in their respective fields of expertise and many projects are close to completion as we are approaching the end of the two-year mandate of our first Association’s Board and Sections. The EACPR is well structured and horizontal cooperation between the sections is established through the various committees. Representatives from each section are working together in terms of science, position papers, education and training as well as for communications including our website.

The main task of the new Board which will be elected in Paris is to make the EACPR projects more visible. An exciting initiative called "EACPR Flagship Collection" will therefore be presented at the opening ceremony in Paris. Please join us there and contribute to establish our long-term success!
