ESC Tools for CVD Prevention

Through its Prevention programmes, the ESC has developped several educational materials and decision making tools to support health professionals and policy makers in their daily practice.

Risk assessment and management  tools for health professionals:

  • European Guidelines for CVD Prevention in Clinical Practice
    The prevention guidelines recommend a new model for total risk estimation based on the SCORE (Systematic Coronary Risk Evaluation) system and define the lifestyle, risk factor and therapeutic targets for cardiovascular disease prevention

  • European SCORE Risk Charts (Systematic Coronary Risk Evaluation)
    Risk assessment charts (high & low cardiovascular risk) based on gender, age, total cholesterol, systolic blood pressure and smoking status
  • HeartScore®
    Interactive tool derived from the CVD Prevention Guidelines and the SCORE Risk Charts. HeartScore® combines risk prediction with management advices to support clinicians in optimising individual cardiovascular risk reduction.
