The ESC has launched several initiatives to raise awareness, disseminate key messages, collect scientific data and measure implementation of CVD Prevention recommendations across Europe.
- European Summit on CVD Prevention
Summit held at the European Heart House in January 2008, gathering medical experts, professional societies political stakeholders to exchange views, discuss experience and call for action to support the development of an effective clinical and political implementation of the 2007 European Guidelines on CVD Prevention.

- MEP Heart Group
Members of the European Parliament (MEP) Heart Group: the main objective of the group is to promote measures that will help reduce the burden of CVD in the European Union and raise awareness of the disease amongst target audiences through a series of dedicated activities

- EuroAspire III Survey
Launched in September 2006 EUROASPIRE III is a 22 country survey on preventive cardiology based on hospital patients with coronary heart disease, their blood relatives (if there is premature CHD) and for the first time apparently healthy individuals in primary care at high risk of developing cardiovascular disease
- EuroHeart
EuroHeart is a 3-year project co-funded by the European Commission Public Health Programme 2003-2008 and aims to address the significant burden of CVD in Europe. To strengthen cross-sector cooperation, it has been developed by the European Society of Cardiology together with the European Heart Network and brings together 30 partners in 20 European countries
- The European Heart Health Charter has been developed by the European Society of Cardiology and the European Heart Network, in collaboration with the European Commission and WHO Regional Office for Europe, to prevent cardiovascular disease in Europe
