Its overall aim is to create an environment in Europe that is favourable to cardiovascular research, innovation, prevention and management, to allow the ESC to leverage its unique position as a broker between professionals, industry and where appropriate any relevant third parties in order to become a key strategic force in cardiovascular health in Europe.
In addition the CRT is meant to serve the ESC as a ‘think-tank’ in which through listening, understanding and learning from each other, strategic priorities for the ESC and its future can be set.
Mission
The mission of the CRT is to provide a political platform to achieve widespread recognition of the importance of cardiovascular health in Europe.
In 2007, the four Task Forces created at the foundation of the CRT had reached their objectives and were dissolved.
Four new Project Teams were created with a well defined brief to be focused on relevant questions and clear deliverables within a 12-18 months timeframe. Beyond this timeframe, the deliverable should be integrated into ESC activities.
Project Teams will focus on:

The objective is to identify the requirements for the creation of a code of conduct for ESC and Industry allowing to provide unbiased and scientifically correct education. The project team has also set itself the objective to provide recommendations for implementation.
EU Interaction
3 subgroups have been created within this project team to define which EU/advocacy activities would benefit from a joint approach between ESC and Industry :
• Sub-group on EU Heart Health Charter Implementation
• Sub-group on Regulatory Affairs
• Sub-group on Health Technology Assessment (EUnetHTA)
Guidelines
The objectives are to outline the challenges faced in the effective implementation of clinical practice guidelines and to recommend solutions to be integrated into ESC and Industry activities.
