‘To be a Fellow of the ESC is important,’ said Ferrari, ‘because you become part of the inner family of the ESC, which is now the biggest cardiovascular organisation in the world.’ Congress fellowship also brings privileges, such as access to the Fellow’s lounge at the annual congress, and a relaxed opportunity to exchange ideas - as well as free access to the congress.

Fellowship of the ESC (FESC), Kristensen noted, is also a recognition of high quality clinical work or research. Fellows, therefore, are the core group of ESC experts and support the ESC in their different roles.
ESC members with several years experience and significant contributions to cardiology may apply for FESC membership.
