Short-term and long-term goals

Science Committee of the Council on Cardiovascular Nursing and Allied Professions (CCNAP)



First year goals:


  1. Presentation of the Science Committee during the CCNAP Spring Meeting on Cardiovascular Nursing 2011 and in the European Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing.

  2. Increase possibilities for mentorship of doctoral students and researchers by creating a database with names of mentors.

  3. Increase research collaborations by creating an overview of doctoral students and junior researchers interested in future research collaboration in the field of cardiovascular patient care.

  4. Stimulate joint research projects between members of CCNAP and beyond.

  5. Provide support and education to doctoral students by increasing exchange of ideas and state of the art seminars during the annual Spring Meeting on Cardiovascular Nursing.


Second year and long term goals:


  1. Organize PhD seminars.

  2. Improve representation of nurses and allied professionals in guidelines and implementation papers.

  3. Publish a research agenda reflecting the priorities for research in the area of cardiovascular patient care, from a nursing and allied professional perspective.

  4. Promote and increase visibility of research in the area of cardiovascular patient care within the European Society of Cardiology (ESC).

  5. Stimulate dedicated research funding in the area of cardiovascular patient care.


Other activities:


  1. Support the CCNAP Programme Committee with respect to abstract review or other issues related to the scientific level of presentations during the annual Spring Meeting on Cardiovascular Nursing.

  2. Provide scientific support to the CCNAP Programme Committee with respect to providing ideas for conferences.

  3. Propose plans for educational seminars/workshops within the yearly Spring Meeting on Cardiovascular Nursing specified for practitioners and researchers specific interests
