They say that as one door closes, another soon opens. While I may be passing the reigns of the EACPR to our new President, Stephan Gielen, I am delighted to take on a new role as Local Host and Co-Chairperson of the Congress Programme Committee for EuroPRevent 2013. A new President for EACPR
Stephan Gielen takes the reigns of the EACPR today for the period of 2012-2014.  He looks back on the association's beginning and presents his views for the future and the hope that "Together we will be able to meet challenges and establish the EACPR as one of the great voices of preventive cardiology on a global scale." Read more
Regular jogging shows dramatic increase in life expectancy
Undertaking regular jogging increases the life expectancy of men by 6.2 years and women by 5.6 years.  Reviewing the evidence of whether jogging is healthy or hazardous shows that  between one and two-and-a-half hours of jogging  per week at a “slow or average” pace delivers  optimum benefits for longevity.  “The results of our research allow us to definitively answer the question of whether jogging is good for your health,” said Schnohr.  Read more   l   Listen to interview with Peter Schnohr
A fish a day keeps the doctor away?
Most people, whether healthy or having cardiovascular disease (CVD), would benefit from regular consumption of oily fish, concluded speakers at during a session by the same name centred on the cardiovascular disease (CVD) benefits  of the long chain highly unsaturated omega-3 fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) found in the flesh of oily fish.  Read more
