The Heart Failure Association and National Societies

An update on the latest activities of the HFA Committee on National Heart Failure Societies.

Date: 20 Apr 2009

Prof. Ulf Dahlström, FESC
Last month, the committee convened in Amsterdam. Please find below an update on the activities of the HFA towards the National Heart Failure Societies.

Updating of the National HF Societies webpage is secured by shared responsibilities, where each member of the committee is responsible for some countries.

Three new interviews with National presidents are published in this Newsletter, Susana Martins from Portugal, Jan Murin, FESC, from Slovakia and Fabrizio Oliva from Italy.

The first Heart Failure awareness day is scheduled to take place the 2nd weekend of May 2010. This day should be devoted to patients, relatives and other people interested to learn more about heart failure. During this weekend there are going to be lectures about heart failure, open house activities in heart failure clinics, competitions, panel debates and much more activities devoted to heart failure.

The next meeting with the National Presidents is scheduled to take place at Heart Failure 2009 in Nice, May 29th, 16.30 – 19.00 and is followed by a dinner at 20.00. During that meeting there are three short presentations from three European countries about their activities in their Heart Failure Working Groups. Also the following items will be presented in detail: Heart Failure awareness day, the ESC initiative about a European Heart Failure registry and much more. All of our National Presidents are going to receive a personal invitation to this meeting.
