EHRA Mission: “To improve the quality of life of the European population by reducing the impact of cardiac arrhythmias and reduce sudden cardiac death"

Angelo Auricchio

The legacy of the largest European electrophysiological community – European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA) - comes from a recent, yet greatly successful past and continues in a shared dynamic vision: to reduce the mortality and morbidity of patients with cardiac arrhythmias and to improve their quality of life.

Over the last 7 years of activities, highly committed scientists coming from every ESC country have shaped outstanding EHRA educational, training and fellowship activities. Together we have established Europace meeting as one of the best international congresses in the field of arrhythmology. We have published several scientific documents of high clinical significance, and EP Europace journal is becoming a well reputed subspecialty journal. Finally, we have created the proper framework for conducting controlled trials. However, we at EHRA are all committed to doing better and to always advocate – now as well as in the future - the best care of our arrhythmic patients in every ESC country.

As we go forward, I am calling for a renewed commitment from our volunteers — physicians, scientists and allied professionals alike, and everyone interested in the care of arrhythmic patients — to help EHRA address the challenges of the day. Likewise, I am calling on the talents of the physician and scientist members to lend their expertise and become a driving force in many areas including health policy, definitions of appropriate quality care, interaction with government bodies, developing new educational opportunities, and identifying the best way to leverage the investment we are going to make in arrhythmia research. This is a challenging time in terms of healthcare, and there is an exciting and appropriate emphasis on quality of care and responsible utilization of affordable resources.
I am firmly convinced that EHRA – the voice of European arrhythmologists – can become stronger and more influential thanks to  your skill and passionate participation.
