Welcome to the European Society of Cardiology. Our mission: to reduce the burden of cardiovascular disease in Europe

European Association of Echocardiography

The leading network of European Echocardiography

The European Association of Echocardiography (EAE) was created in 2003 and was the first Association within the European Society of Cardiology (ESC).

EAE has always been a benchmark for new educational and organisational initiatives inside the ESC introducing certification and accreditation exams, education delivered through the web (case portal, webinars, echo box, etc), a sub-specialty journal and so on...

Hard work, strong assets

In recent years, the EAE has become one of the largest and most active Associations of the ESC, with strong assets:

  • the European Journal of Echocardiography which gained an impact factor and  is published monthly now;
  • the EAE Web Site, which is by far the most visited among the Associations’ websites;
  • EUROECHO, one of the largest congresses on Echocardiography worldwide, which sees a continuous growth in attendance and abstract submissions;
  • the certification and accreditation process which was launched 7 years ago;
  • our educational platform with several products (webinars, basic echo course, resources from EUROECHO, slides, 3D Echo Box, core syllabus, Echo hall of fame).

All of the above fulfills our mission of improving education in echo throughout Europe and increasing our membership year by year.

This has been achieved by the past EAE-presidents, the hard work of previous board members, and joint efforts of all  members who have devoted their work, knowledge and time to develop echocardiography and its clinical applications as the first option when selecting a diagnostic method to assess patients with known or suspected cardiovascular diseases.

New initiatives

The initiatives launched most recently are:

  • the Club 35, a new committee which has been designed to involve young doctors (and especially women) interested in non-invasive imaging.
  • the finalising of the EAE Textbook of Echocardiography, witnessing the continuous efforts to develop activities adapted to the growing needs of our members.

I invite you to join us and share your vision and ideas, and participate in promoting excellence in diagnosis, research, education and technical developments in cardiovascular ultrasound and other imaging modalities.
