The current name was a compromise rooted in the history of the journal. Its length and complexity makes it difficult to retain, and may limit the accessibility for those who are looking for the journal and its content.
Besides the need for a more “catchy” title, the European Association for Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation (EACPR) also felt that preventive cardiology better describes its domain, which may be larger than the current name of the Association and the journal suggests, and wanted to highlight this broader field of interest to its readers.
With this new title, we aim at positioning our journal as the main reference in preventive cardiology. Our journal is doing well, submission rates and impact factor are increasing, but the name change will definitely help us achieving our objective.
Traditionally, preventive cardiology has been a field in which many different disciplines are active, and we encourage all those disciplines to contribute to the success of the journal, promote its impact factor, and promote the journal’s position in the field.
2012 is time for a change: Don’t miss the first issue of the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology!
